India has launched a military operation called ‘Operation Sindoor’ in response to a deadly terrorist attack that took place on April 22 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 people, mostly tourists, lost their lives. The operation targeted terrorist infrastructure located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). India confirmed that the explosions reported in parts of Pakistan early Wednesday morning were a result of its military action under this operation. News24 Explains
Officials said that the strikes were carefully calibrated, focusing solely on terrorist targets while ensuring no Pakistani military facilities were harmed. This measured approach underscores India’s commitment to restraint and de-escalation amid heightened tensions.
“The actions taken today reflect our resolve to hold accountable those responsible for the Pahalgam attack,” stated a defense spokesperson. “We have acted with precision and care, ensuring that our response is both effective and responsible.”
As tensions continue to rise, reports indicate that Pakistan has responded with artillery fire in the Bhimber Gali area of Poonch-Rajouri, in Jammu region, further escalating the situation. The Indian Army is currently engaged in a calibrated response to ensure the safety and security of its borders. A detailed briefing on Operation Sindoor is scheduled for later today, where military officials will provide further insights into the operation’s execution and objectives.
