Operation Sindoor Live Updates: Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated after Pakistan resorted to unprovoked firing and attacked Military stations in India. Military stations at Jammu, Pathankot and Udhampur were targeted by Pakistani drone and missiles along the International border in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. All these threats were swiftly neutralised using kinetic and non-kinetic capabilities in line with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Ministry of Defence stated that there were no casualties and material losses and reiterated that India remains fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its people.
Meanwhile, the Border Security Forces (BSF) foiled a major infiltration attempt along the International Boundary in the Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. The attempt was made around 11 pm on May 8. In a post on X, BSF Jammu wrote, “At around 2300 hours on 8 May 2025, BSF foiled a major infiltration bid at the International Boundary in Samba district, J&K.”
Multiple sources also reported that a Pakistani Air Force jet was shot down by Indian Air Defence systems in the Pathankot sector of Punjab. However, official confirmation from the government is still awaited, with more details expected soon.
Additionally, defence sources confirmed that the Indian Army shot down two Pakistani drones in the Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The drones were intercepted amid a heavy exchange of artillery fire between Indian and Pakistani forces.
These developments come after India launched “Operation Sindoor” on May 7. During the operation, the Indian Armed Forces carried out missile strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The operation involved precision strikes on nine identified sites linked to terrorist outfits, specifically targeting camps associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad. Notable locations affected include Masjid Sobhanullah in Ahmed Pur East Bahawalpur, Kotli in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, and Muzaffarabad.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri had highlighted Pakistan’s role in removing references to the terrorist group The Resistance Front (TRF), which claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam terrorist attack, from the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) press statement issued on April 25.
While addressing a media briefing on Operation Sindoor in Delhi on Wednesday, Misri said that TRF, which is a front for the UN-proscribed terrorist group Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT), claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam attack and added that claims made by TRF were reposted by LeT. He recalled how India had earlier shared inputs regarding the TRF with the UN, bringing out its role as a cover for terrorists based in Pakistan.
