Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Friday informed about the ceasefire between India and Pakistan. He said both sides would stop all firing and military action on land and in the air and sea with effect from 1700 hours Indian Standard Time.
Misri said, “Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) called the Indian DGMO at 15:35 hours earlier this afternoon. It was agreed between them that both sides would stop all firing and military action on land and in the air and sea with effect from 1700 hours Indian Standard Time. Today, instructions have been given on both sides to give effect to this understanding. The Directors General of Military Operations will talk again on the 12th of May at 1200 hours.”

“The stoppage of firing and military action between India and Pakistan was worked out directly between the two countries. The Pak DGMO initiated the call this afternoon after which discussions took place and understanding reached. There is no decision to hold talks on any other issue at any other place,” Sources said.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump on Friday announced that India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire. The development comes after India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 7 in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. India targeted nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Confirming Trump’s announcement, Pakistan’s foreign minister said on X, “Pakistan and India have agreed to a ceasefire with immediate effect. Pakistan has always strived for peace and security in the region, without compromising on its sovereignty and territorial integrity!”
