Operation Sindoor

India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 as a response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians. In this mission, the Indian Air Force and Army worked together to carry out precise strikes on nine terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The Army used loitering munitions and kamikaze drones to launch attacks from a distance. They also fired advanced long-range artillery shells to hit specific targets, all based on reliable intelligence. The operation was a well-planned effort to eliminate key terror threats across the border.

9 Sites Targeted

India targeted nine terrorist locations during Operation Sindoor. Five of these were in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK)- two each in Muzaffarabad and Kotli, and one in Bhimber. The remaining four were in Pakistan- two in Sialkot, and one each in Muridke and Bahawalpur.

This was a big shift from 2019, when India only struck one site in Balakot after the Pulwama attack. The targets this time included: Bhimber in PoK, Markaz Taiba in Muridke near Lahore – Lashkar-e-Taiba’s main base where 26/11 attacker Ajmal Kasab and Lashkar scout David Headley were trained. Markaz Subhanallah in Bahawalpur – linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Sarjal and Mehmona Joya in Sialkot, Sawai Nala and Syedna Bilal in Muzaffarabad, Gulpur and Abbas in Kotli
