Pakistan’s army said on Tuesday that 11 of its soldiers were killed during last week’s conflict with India after the terror attack in Pahalgam.
According to a statement from the Pakistani army, 78 soldiers from the army and air force were also injured during the four days of fighting. This was reported by AFP.
India said its armed forces carried out precise attacks on nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. India claims that over 100 terrorists were killed in those strikes.
Later, when Pakistan responded, India said it killed around 30 to 40 Pakistani soldiers in retaliation.
Tensions Rise as India and Pakistan Exchange Strikes
After India took action against terrorist camps, the Pakistani military responded by launching drones and other weapons at Indian army bases and civilian areas. However, Indian forces stopped most of these attacks by shooting down the incoming projectiles.
As Pakistan kept attacking civilian areas, India hit back. Indian forces carried out airstrikes deep inside Pakistan, destroying important infrastructure, including airstrips and air bases.
Following the intense fighting, a top officer from the Pakistan army (DGMO) called his Indian counterpart and asked for the fighting to stop.
Last week, India said it had shot down several Pakistani fighter jets but did not give a specific number. Yesterday, the Indian forces confirmed that they had shot down a Pakistani Mirage jet.
