Schools To Remain Closed In Four Districts On May 14 As A Precautionary Measure News24 –


The Directorate of School Education, Jammu (DSEJ) on Tuesday, announced that all government and private schools in the districts of Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, and Samba will remain closed on May 14. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure, and no specific reason has been stated for the closure. However, it is important to note that government and private schools in Udhampur district, as well as in Bani, Basholi, Mahanpur, Bhaddu, Malhar, and Billawar zones of Kathua district, will remain open on Wednesday. Earlier, the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu after reviewing situation on Monday, had announced the reopening of educational institutions in non-border districts from Tuesday.

“All Govt and Pvt schools in Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch & Samba districts will remain closed tomorrow on 14 May, 2025. However, all Govt and pvt schools in dist Udhampur and Bani, Basholi, Mahanpur, Bhaddu, Malhar and Billawar zones of dist Kathua shall open tomorrow on 14th May, 2025,” the department stated in an official statement.

Meanwhile, following the recent ceasefire between India and Pakistan and the improved security situation, the Jammu & Kashmir administration had announced the reopening of schools including Katra, Reasi, Udhampur.

The situation is slowly returning to normalcy in districts of Jammu and Kashmir, after no drone, firing, or shelling has been reported in the past two days.

Moreover, the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, on Tuesday stated that the global community has shown a clear understanding of India’s plight and recognised that the Pahalgam terrorist attack targeted Indian tourists and that the epicentre of terrorism lies across the border in Pakistan. He said that numerous foreign leaders have acknowledged India’s right to defend itself and protect its citizens, emphasising that the epicentre of terrorism is in Pakistan.
