BSF Jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw, who was in the custody of Pakistan Rangers, was returned to India on Wednesday, May 14. This comes after ceasefire understanding between Pakistan and India on May 10. Earlier on May 11, his wife Rajani Shaw had expressed hope for his return and urged the government to discuss his release immediately during the talks with Pakistan. “Purnam has been held in Pakistan for 18 days now. Although initially we were told that he is well, there have been no reports this week. We are extremely worried about his condition and how he is being treated amidst the hostilities between the two countries,” she told TOI.
