MP High Court Orders FIR Against Minister Vijay Shah For ‘Terrorist’s Sister’ Remark On Colonel Sofiya Qureshi News24 –

The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Wednesday ordered the police to register an FIR against MP tribal affairs minister Kunwar Vijay Shah for his disparaging remarks on Colonel Sofiya Qureshi.

High Court took suo motu cognisance

Taking a suo motu cognisance, a division bench of the high court, Justices Atul Shridharan, and Anuradha Shukla asked the police to register an FIR against Shah by 6 pm and asked to be informed about compliance with its order.

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi had briefed the media on Operation Sindoor

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi had briefed the media along with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh during Operation Sindoor following the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives on April 22.

Shah made controversial remarks

Shah had made a controversial statement which appeared to be directed at Colonel Qureshi. During a public meeting, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent “terrorists’ sister” from their community to kill them.

‘Ready to apologise’

After witnessing the ire of the general public and opposition, Shah said he is “ready to apologise 10 times” and Colonel Qureshi is like her sister and he respects her more than her real sister. The opposition parties have demanded his dismissal from the state cabinet.

Over a decade ago, Shah had to resign from Shivraj’s cabinet over loose talks.

Operation Sindoor

India launched “Operation Sindoor” on May 7, targeting nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. India’s Ministry of Defence said the action was in direct response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen.

On May 14, BSF Constable Purnam Shaw was repatriated to India after an understanding was reached between India and Pakistan on the cessation of hostilities.
