The Rajasthan Police detained six persons in Udaipur after a fight erupted over lemon that sparked communal tension in the city. A minor argument between a vegetable vendor and two men turned ugly over the lemon purchase.
Incident took place in Udaipur’s Dhanmandi area
According to PTI, the police said the incident took place in Udaipur’s Dhanmandi area and it has detained six people in the case. The police said a verbal spat between a vegetable vendor and two men over lemons purchase led to a communal clash.
Accused attacked vendor with a sharp weapon
The Superintendent of Police said that five people attacked the vegetable vendor with a sharp weapon. The vendor, Satvir, sustained serious injuries. He was admitted to MB Hospital for treatment.
Tension rose when two roadside huts and vegetable carts were put on fire. The firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the flames. Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Father kills two-week-old newborn in Hyderabad
In a separate incident, a 14-day-old baby was allegedly stabbed to death by her father and her body was thrown in a garbage dump under the Golconda police station limits in Hyderabad.
Man stabbed the infant before abandoning the remains
Based on a complaint filed by the accused’s wife, he was taken into police custody. Jagat, who is originally from Nepal and works as a security guard, reportedly stabbed the infant before abandoning the remains.
According to the police, “Yesterday, in the early morning hours around 2 am, a man named Jagath, a Nepalese national who had been residing and working as a watchman in an apartment for one year, killed his 14-day-old baby girl.”
“He took the body outside the apartment, stabbed her in the neck, and threw the deceased baby’s body near a garbage dump in Tolichowki. His wife filed a complaint, and we have taken the accused into custody. The accused has not revealed the motives behind the crime. Further investigation is ongoing,” said the Inspector of Golconda police station.
