Nine Booked For Assaulting On-Duty Constable Addressing Traffic Hazard In Naigaon News24 –


A police constable was reportedly attacked by a group of people while on duty in Naigaon (East) during the early hours of May 16, 2025. The incident took place around 12:40 am near Prince Dhaba, where the officer was attempting to resolve a traffic hazard caused by dangerously parked heavy dumpers.

As per the FIR, Constable Somnath Vikram Bodkhe asked the drivers of two dumpers to move their vehicles, which allegedly led to a violent confrontation involving several people. The conflict intensified when one of the driver, Sunil Rghunath Rathod, along with another individual, Karan Mahadev Chavan, allegedly attacked Constable Bodkhe.

Rathod is alleged to have taken the constable’s uniform and bitten his right arm. It is claimed that several more people supported the attack: among them were Savita Rathod, Rutik Rathod, Anil Rathod, Pravin Rathod, Kushal Chavan, Pooja Kushal Chavan, and Rekha Apparao Chavan.

The case has been reported under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), such as attacking a public servant, harassment, illegal gatherings, and defying duty. The police have not yet made any arrests connected to the incident. Sub-Inspector Roshan Devre is leading the investigation, while it is being supervised by Assistant Commissioner of Police Navnath Ghogare. The authorities are pursuing criminal charges against the nine people officially named, along with two to three unidentified individuals who were involved.

The suspects are suspected of organizing an illegal group with the goal of preventing the officer from working. According to reports, the group tried to scare the officers and threatened their safety while preventing the government from working smoothly and putting everyone’s well-being in danger.
