Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Visits LOC Area Tangdhar, Assesses Damage From Cross-Border Shelling News24 –

Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, visited the border town of Tangdhar in Kupwara district to assess the damage caused by recent cross-border shelling from Pakistani Rangers and Army. This visit comes in the wake of heightened tensions along the Line of Control (LoC), where local residents have faced loss of lives and property.

During his visit, LG Sinha took stock of the situation firsthand, evaluating the impact on the local population and engaging with locals to understand their grievances. He listened attentively to the concerns raised by residents, ensuring that their voices were heard amidst the ongoing turmoil.

Assuring the people of Tangdhar that their genuine demands would be addressed, LG Sinha reported that immediate relief has been provided to those who suffered property and other losses due to the cross border shelling. However, he acknowledged that the compensation offered thus far may not be sufficient to meet the needs of the affected families. “I have directed the Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir to compile a comprehensive report on the losses incurred by the people. Once I have that information, I will communicate with the Government of India to advocate for adequate compensation,” he said.

Emphasizing the resilience and bravery of the residents, LG Sinha praised the people of Tangdhar for standing shoulder to shoulder with Indian forces in their fight against terrorism and other threats. “The locals here are not just witnesses to these challenges; they are active participants in our collective effort against cross-border terrorism,” he said.
