South Peninsular India is set to witness an extended spell of active weather conditions this week, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph, is expected over Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, and South Interior Karnataka from May 22 to 27.

The IMD has issued multiple warnings for heat wave, hot and humid weather, and warm night conditions across several parts of the country. Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions are likely in isolated pockets of West Rajasthan from May 22 to 23. Heat wave conditions are also expected in isolated areas of Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, and East Rajasthan during the same period. Additionally, West Rajasthan may continue to face heat wave conditions on May 24 and 25, while South Uttar Pradesh and North Madhya Pradesh are likely to be affected on May 22.
