Class 7 Student Dies By Suicide In Panskura After Being Accused Of Stealing Chips; Note Reveals A Heartbreaking Message News24 –
West Bengal: In a shocking incident that took place recently in West Bengal’s Panskura town, a Class 7 student reportedly died by suicide. In a note purportedly written by the 13-year-old boy who was a student at Bakulda High School, read – “Mom, I didn’t steal.” According to reports, the young child was accused of stealing a few packets of chips from a sweet shop.
Boy Accused Of Stealing Chips
It was reported that the locals claimed that he took the packets when the shop owner, Subhankar Dikshit (Civic volunteer in Gosainber market), was not around. Subhankar confronted the student after spotting him from a distance. The boy paid him Rs 20 for three packets of chips. The packets were priced at Rs 5 each. Shortly after, the civic volunteer took him to his shop to return the change. He then reportedly beat him and made him apologise in public.
Family Alleges He Died Due To Shopkeeper’s Treatment
Reports added that the child’s mother visited the shop with him and scolded the boy. On returning home, he tried to kill himself. On Thursday, he died at Tamluk Medical College and Hospital. Meanwhile, the family alleged that he took the extreme step due to the shopkeeper’s treatment. The civic volunteer is currently absconding. The family also believes that the child was deeply affected after facing public admonition from his mother.
Following a post-mortem examination, the Police have filed a case of unnatural death. Authorities will launch a thorough probe once a formal complaint is registered.
