Drug Mafia Attacks Ex-Serviceman Trying To Stop Smuggling In Bhatinda News24 –


A drug mafia attacked an ex-serviceman in Punjab’s Bhatinda when he was trying to stop drug smuggling. The incident took place amid the Punjab government’s claims that it received a positive response in curbing the drug menace. 

The Punjab Police started a war against drugs with a deadline of May 31. The ex-serviceman has been identified as Randhir Singh. 

According to NDTV, Singh was attacked by the drug mafia when he was trying to stop drug smuggling in Bhatinda’s Bhai Bakhtore village.

Last month, the Punjab police arrested three drug traffickers-Maninderjit Singh, Peter, and Lovejit Singh alias Raja-near Shankar Dhaba on Attari Road, Amritsar.

The Punjab DGP posted on X,”In a major crackdown on Nacro-illegal-Arms-Smuggling networks, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, Punjab (#ANTF), @BorderRange, #Amritsar arrests three drug traffickers—Maninderjit Singh, Peter, and Lovejit Singh @ Raja—near Shankar Dhaba on Attari Road, Amritsar. Acting swiftly on a tip-off, the team seized: Four PX5 Storm pistols, 521 grams of heroin, 7 magazines & 55 live cartridges. An FIR under the NDPS Act and Arms Act has been registered at PS ANTF, SAS Nagar.@ANTFPunjab is actively pursuing both forward and backward linkages to dismantle the entire network.@PunjabPoliceInd remains firmly committed to eradicating drug syndicates, seizing illegal arms, and building a #NashaMuktPunjab.”

In another case, the DGP tweeted, “Acting swiftly on forward and backward linkages, Jalandhar Commissionerate Police recovers 8 Kg Heroin, 2 illegal pistols, 3 luxury cars following the arrest of Shivam Sodhi @ Shiva with 5 Kg heroin a few days back.

The arrested accused’s disclosures led to the arrest of his aide Barinder Singh @ Babbu, from #Phagwara with 1 Kg Heroin, 2 illegal .32 bore pistols, and 6 live cartridges.

Total recovery: 13 Kg #Heroin, 2 illegal weapons, 6 live rounds, ₹22,000 drug money & 3 luxury cars

FIR under the NDPS Act has been registered at PS Division No. 8, #Jalandhar. Shivam & Barinder have multiple FIRs already registered against them. @PunjabPoliceInd remains committed to wiping out drug syndicates, seizing illegal arms, and ensuring a #NashaMuktPunjab.”
