In a shocking incident, a woman and her son consumed poison at a posh society in Greater Noida West. Police rescued both and admitted them to a hospital.
Police: Financial strain followed husband’s death
According to News 24, the woman, Seema Garg, was living with her son, Siddharth Garg, at Cleo County Society. Police said their economic condition had deteriorated since the death of Seema’s husband.
Police received a call from Seema’s brother, Pradeep, reporting that his sister and nephew were not answering their phones. After receiving the alert, police rushed to the society and opened the lock of their flat with the help of the society’s maintenance staff.
Mother-son duo found unconscious
The cops found Seema and Siddharth lying unconscious on the bed, with a white foamy substance oozing from their mouths. They were immediately taken to the hospital. After examination, doctors informed police that they had consumed poison. Later, both were referred to a hospital in Delhi.
Seema’s husband, Sudhir Garg, who was a businessman, had died a couple of months ago. The family’s financial condition had worsened, and they had reportedly not paid rent for their flat.
Shakti Mohan Awasthi, DCP, Central Noida, said Seema and Siddharth are undergoing treatment at the hospital. He added that a probe has been launched, and all angles are being examined.
Man shot dead in Noida
In a separate incident, a man was allegedly shot dead inside a flat on Wednesday afternoon, police said, adding that a case was registered and efforts are underway to nab the suspect. Police said the deceased has been identified as Ompal Singh, who originally hailed from Bulandshahr.
