Punjab, Rajasthan Reel Under Extreme Heat; Red Alert Issued In Delhi As Temperatures Soar To 45°C News24 –
North India Heatwave 2025 LIVE: North India has been reeling under an intense heatwave for the past few days, as temperatures have reached dangerous levels in some parts. Little or no relief is in sight as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heatwave conditions over Jammu-Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi from 12th to 14th June.
A Red Alert is in place for the national capital for today, June 12, 2025. Meanwhile, residents are advised to take necessary precautions as a surge in heat-related illnesses is being witnessed among people. The other affected places likely to face the wrath of heat are Himachal Pradesh, and West & East Rajasthan. Additionally, the Weather Department has forecasted hot and humid weather conditions over West Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh in the coming days.
Scorching warm night conditions are also expected over Assam and Meghalaya this week. Notably, India experienced a comparatively cooler May as monsoon hit North and Central India early. The lack of rainfall at many places since the start of June is the main reason for the rapid jump in temperatures.
