The Uttar Pradesh police on Monday said five people were killed and three people were injured when a car collided head-on with a bike in Srinagar of Mahoba district. The incident took place at 1:30 pm near Nanoura village on the Srinagar-Belatal road.
Both vehicles plunged into a ditch
A senior police official said that the impact was so severe that the car dragged the bike for 20 metres before both the vehicles veered off the road and fell into a ditch.
Injured have been admitted to hospital
The police officer said that two bike riders and three car occupants lost their lives in the incident. The deceased have been identified as Sanjeev, Bharatlal, Ajay, Vinod and Rampal. The injured have been admitted to the government hospital for treatment.
Car occupants ere returning to village after attending a function
The police said that the initial probe suggests that a tyre burst might be a reason for the fatal incident. The cops added that the people in the car were returning to the village after attending a function.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief at the incident and directed officials to ensure proper medical facilities for the injured.
MP: 25-yr-old man sets himself on fire
In another incident, a 25-year-old man set himself on fire reportedly after being troubled by his lover in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior district and succumbed to the burn injuries, a police officer said on Monday.
Man was allegedly troubled by the woman
The man has been identified as Ajay Kushwaha, a resident of Sikandar Kampoo locality, and he was in a relationship with the woman for the last nine years. He was allegedly troubled by the woman, particularly over financial matters, following which, the man set himself on fire in front of the woman’s house on the night of June 13, the police said.
He was immediately admitted to the hospital but died due to severe burn injuries. Ahead of his death, upon receiving the information, the police reached the hospital and recorded the statement of the man. Based on his remarks, the police registered a case against the woman, her father and her brother under relevant sections on June 15 and started an investigation into the matter.
