At least 10 people have died after a fire broke out in the Sigachi Chemical Industry factory in Pashamylaram, Telangana, according to PTI.
Telangana fire personnel said the fire broke out due to a reactor explosion in the factory and around 15 to 20 people have suffered injuries due to the blast. As per Telangana Today, many workers are also expected to be entrapped due to the explosion.
Reports state that 11 fire engines have been sent to the site and firefighting efforts are ongoing. Fire, rescue and search teams are said to be at the site to locate the entrapped workers.
The blast took place in a chemical manufacturing facility located in Sangareddy district. “The explosion happened at Sigachi Pharma Company, Pasamailaram Phase 1. Eleven fire engines have arrived on site. Almost 15-20 were injured. More details are expected”, Telangana fire officials told news agency ANI.
After the explosion, 11 fire engines were brought to the scene, where they are currently engaged in fire fighting, officials said.
Superintendent of Police Sangareddy Paritosh Pankaj said that no bodies had been found so far.”So far we have not found any bodies, rescue operation is ongoing. We will update in some time.”
