Bengaluru Police arrested three suspects following the initial recovery of explosive gelatin sticks and electric detonators at the Kalasipalya BMTC Bus Stand in the city. Acting on a combination of technical surveillance and local tip-offs, local forces executed the arrests.
The explosives were found at a busy transport hub used by thousands daily, and the discovery left residents in fear. In total, 22 live gelatin sticks and 30 live detonators have now been recovered as part of the investigation.
The operation was carried out under tight supervision, led by Joint Commissioner of Police (West Zone) Vamshikrishna and guided by Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Division) N. Girish. A team spearheaded by ACP K.M. Ramesh made the arrests.
The initial incident unfolded on the morning of 23 July, around 9:30 AM, when a BMTC assistant traffic officer raised the alarm about suspicious objects spotted at the terminal. Swift action led to the seizure of six R.E.X-90 gelatin sticks and 12 electric detonators—materials potent enough to raise serious safety concerns.
Hunt On for More Suspects
Police have made it clear that the investigation is far from over. Efforts are ongoing to identify and track down others who may be connected to the incident. The arrests come at a time when several private schools have already received hoax bomb threats, forcing evacuations and rattling parents, students, and staff. Emergency services and bomb squads have been scrambling to respond.
