Delhi-Gurugram Expressway: Over 1.5 Lakh Vehicles Expected

Once the route is connected, it will become fully operational for daily commuters. Officials expect over 1.5 lakh vehicles to use the corridor per day. While some vehicles are already utilising some parts of this under-construction stretch of road, traffic congestion remains a concern due to incomplete sections. Many drivers are avoiding using the roadway because of delays. However, once the entire work is completed, it is expected to become a favoured route for many thousands of commuters.

When the road is fully open, the enhanced road is anticipated to receive over 50,000 vehicles per day, making a significant dent into the traffic pressures experienced on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway. Experts believe that around 80% of the traffic envisaged on the new approved corridor is vehicles intending to use the older expressway.

According to an India TV report, experts have suggested that building a tunnel from Mahipalpur to the airport in Gurugram could significantly reduce traffic between the Sirhaul border and Mahipalpur.
