Indian-Origin Data Scientist Brutally Beaten In Ireland; Face Fractured In ‘Unprovoked Racist’ Attack, Shares Pictures! News24 –
In a violent attack, an Indian-origin entrepreneur was brutally beaten by a group of teenagers in Dublin. Santosh Yadav, a senior data scientist at WISAR Lab and Technology Gateway in the Irish city of Letterkenny, shared a post on LinkedIn detailing the horrific incident. He described how he was beaten across his head, face, neck, chest, hands, and legs, and left bleeding on the pavement.
Yadav further pointed out that the attack was not an isolated incident; such attacks against Indians in Ireland have been on the rise. His post described the violence as “unprovoked” and highlighted racial targeting as an increasingly common issue in the European country.
“After having dinner, I was walking near my apartment when a group of six teenagers attacked me from behind. They snatched my glasses, breaking them, and then beat me relentlessly across my head, face, neck, chest, hands, and legs—leaving me bleeding on the pavement. I managed to call the Gardai, and an ambulance took me to Blanchardstown Hospital. The medical team confirmed my cheekbone is fractured, and I have now been referred for specialist care,” he wrote.
The Indian-origin data scientist further claimed that such attacks are becoming alarmingly frequent and have been surging across Dublin.
“This is not an isolated incident. Racist attacks on Indian men and other minorities are surging across Dublin—on buses, in housing estates, and on public streets. Yet, the government is silent. There is no action being taken against these perpetrators. They run free and are emboldened to attack again,” he said.
Request For Action
Requesting the authorities to take appropriate action against those racially targeting minorities, Yadav tagged several government agencies in his post. These included the Government of Ireland, the Embassy of India in Dublin, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, and Akhilesh Mishra.
A similar incident was reported on July 19 in the Tallaght area of South West Dublin. In that attack, a gang of around ten teenagers – aged between 15 and 16 – assaulted an Indian man. The ordeal was later reported in a Facebook video by Jennifer Murray, who had intervened to help the victim during his scuffle with the delinquents.
