Tensions between two groups in Maharashtra’s Pune flared up over an objectionable post that was uploaded by a youth on social media. The altercation that followed escalated into stone pelting, arson, and vandalism. Police were forced to use tear gas shells to restore law and order as clashes erupted. One suspect has been detained in connection with the incident.
The clash reportedly broke out after a youth from a particular community allegedly uploaded an objectionable post on social media, which enraged members of another group in Yavat village, located in Pune’s Daund Tehsil.
According to PTI, a police official stated that one group vandalized structures and properties belonging to the other community, hurled stones, and even set a motorcycle on fire.
A heavy deployment of police personnel has been made in Yavat village in the Daund Taluka of Pune district. The situation remains tense following the alleged social media post. Police noted that a related incident had taken place in the village just a week ago, keeping tensions already high. Villagers took to the streets, and a few youngsters attempted to vandalize a structure.

As per ANI, a police official has reported that an incident had occurred in the village a week ago as well, hence the situation was already tense. After the recent altercation, the villagers took to the streets, and a few attempted to vandalize structures.
