Security Forces Neutralise Terrorist In Kulgam Encounter Amid Ongoing Counterterrorism Operations News24 –

A joint team of security forces successfully neutralised one terrorist during an ongoing encounter in the Akhal forest area of Devsar locality, Kulgam district. The operation, which is part of the larger counterterrorism initiative, including recent Operation Mahadev, was launched by a joint team of forces comprising the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG), the Indian Army, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

The encounter began on Friday evening following credible intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the densely forested area. As security forces conducted a cordon and search operation, they came under fire from terrorists, prompting a swift retaliatory response that resulted in the killing of one terrorist. The body of the unidentified terrorist is yet to be retrieved, as the operation is still underway.

Earlier this week, security forces eliminated three terrorists linked to the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirming their affiliation with the Pakistan-based, banned terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba. Among the slain was Suleiman, identified as the mastermind behind the brutal Pahalgam attack.

In a related development, just days prior to the Kulgam encounter, security forces successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district, resulting in the killing of two terrorists attempting to infiltrate in the Jammu region.
