In a strange turn of events, a thief who looted two houses in Kanpur ended up falling asleep in one of the homes he had just plundered. His deep sleep was interrupted the next morning when he was caught red-handed by the homeowners.
The incident took place in the Nazirabad police station area near the Marayampur railway line. Two brothers, Vinod Kumar and Anil Kumar, live in adjacent houses. The accused was under the influence of alcohol when he first broke into Vinod’s house late at night and looted valuables by breaking into a cupboard locker.
The thief entered Anil’s house next door, where he again broke open a cupboard and stole jewelry and cash. The arduous ordeal of breaking into and robbing two homes seemingly exhausted the thief, and he nodded off after lying on a bed inside Anil’s house, as per NDTV.
Early the next morning, Anil Kumar, who drives an e-rickshaw, woke up and was shocked to find an unknown man sleeping in his home. On further inspection, he discovered the broken cupboards and missing jewelry with the thief. He raised an alarm and created a commotion. Angry neighbours thrashed the thief and handed him over to the Nazirabad Police. The police arrested the thief, and a case has been registered against him. The accused has now been sent to jail.
