Flash Flood Kills At Least 4, Several Feared Washed Away; 8-10 Indian Army Soldiers Are Reported Missing News24 –
A cloudburst struck Uttarkashi district in Uttarakhand on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, claiming at least four lives and leaving several others feared missing. The disaster triggered flash floods with a massive mudslide in the Kheer Ganga river catchment area.
Dharali village near Harsil is reported to be wiped out completely. Homes, hotels, and homestays were swept away by the raging waters, with locals estimating that 10–12 people may be buried under debris and 20–25 establishments destroyed.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have spoken to Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and provided assurance of the Centre’s support in the rescue operations. He indicated that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams and the Indo Tibetan Border Patrol (ITBP) were being deployed for their rescue operations, and that a team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was also on site. As explained by the locals, the cloudburst was in the catchment area of the Kheer Ganga river, causing the floods.
