Amid a rising trend in Bihar, where the emergence of fake applications has been discovered in recent weeks, with names such as ‘Dog Babu’, ‘Nitish Kumari’, and ‘Sonalika Tractor’ from districts such as Patna, Nalanda, and East Champaran, yet another bizarre incident has come to light. This time, an application has been filed for a residence certificate in the name of US President Donald Trump in Samastipur district. The application was submitted online on July 29 in the Mohiuddinnagar block. Officials say it mentioned the village Hasanpur, Ward No. 13, Post Bakarpur, Police Station Mohiuddinnagar, District Samastipur as the address.
The application contains a photo of Donald Trump, and it was submitted under Application No. BRCCO/2025/17989735. When the report was analysed, it was noticed that there were false details in the form too, namely: photo, Aadhaar number, barcode and address, which were falsified. The circle officer (CO) rejected the application and sent the case to the cyber police station for a probe.
Samastipur DM Reacts
“This certificate has not been issued; rather, someone had deliberately applied for it, and during investigation, it was found to be wrong. An FIR has been filed in this matter, and legal action is also being taken. No such person will be spared,” said the district magistrate of Samastipur.
The report concluded by indicating that the authorities suspected the application was filed to ridicule the bureaucracy. The IP address and login credentials used to submit the form are being investigated.
The officers are considering conducting technical audits and auditing the online system to avoid this kind of misuse in the future, along with stricter verification of applications.
Congress leader Randeep Surjewala condemned the ongoing electoral roll revision exercise in Bihar as dishonest, and a way of stealing votes.
