FASTag Annual Pass To Launch On August 15; 200 Toll Trips Free – Fee, Validity, And Other Details You Should Know! News24 –
Starting August 15, India’s Independence Day, the FASTag electronic toll collection system will undergo a significant update. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will introduce the FASTag annual pass, designed to offer convenience and cost relief to frequent travellers by streamlining toll payments.
What Is An Annual Pass?
This is a prepaid scheme specially designed for non-commercial vehicles like private cars, jeeps and vans. Under this scheme:
The vehicle owner will have to pay Rs 3000 in one go.
In return, 200 toll crossings or 1 year validity will be available (whichever is completed first).
The scheme will be applicable only on national highways and expressways under NHAI and MoRTH.
This will eliminate the need for frequent recharge, speed up toll payment and reduce congestion at toll plazas.
When Was This Pass Announced?
It was announced by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in June 2025. He said that this scheme:
- Will solve the old problems related to toll plazas within 60 km.
- Will make the process easier with a cheap and one-time payment.
- Will reduce crowding, waiting and disputes at toll plazas.
How The Pass Works?
- No need to get a new tag, it will be linked to your existing FASTag.
- This pass will be applicable to only one vehicle and cannot be transferred to any other.
- The scheme will work only at national level toll plazas.

- Go to Rajmarg Yatra app or NHAI/MoRTH website.
- Login with vehicle number and FASTag ID.
- Make sure FASTag is active and linked to the vehicle.
- Complete the payment of Rs 3000.
- The pass will be linked to your existing FASTag.
