Deaf-Mute Woman Allegedly Gang-Raped Near Balrampur Police Post; 2 Arrested After Encounter News24 –
A 21-year-old deaf and mute woman was allegedly chased and gang-raped in Uttar Pradesh, Balrampur, on Monday, police said, adding that two suspects were arrested after a brief gunfight.
Police said the survivor, who resides with her family in Balrampur, alleged that on Monday night she had gone to visit her maternal uncle’s home in a nearby locality.
“After visiting her uncle’s home, when she was returning home, a biker stopped and forced her to sit on his bike. The suspect took her to an isolated place, and she was gang-raped by the suspect and his associates,” said police.
CCTV footage also widely circulated on social media platforms in which it was seen that a woman was running while two to three bikers were chasing her. The footage was reportedly recorded on the CCTV camera of SSP’s residence.
Police said that late at night, when she did not return home, her family members began a search, and she was found lying unconscious inside the bushes in an isolated place. When she regained consciousness, she revealed the assault.
“A specially abled woman was returning home from her maternal uncle’s house. On the way, she was made to sit by a man on his bike. She was taken to a deserted spot, where she was raped. A medical examination was done. We are monitoring the CCTV footage. We are working swiftly to catch the accused,” said Additional Superintendent of Police, Vishal Pandey as quoted by India Today.
Police said they have arrested two suspects identified as Ankur Pandey and Harshit Pandey following a brief gunfight.
