IMD Weather Update: Several parts of Delhi, Noida and Mumbai woke up to a fresh spell of rain on Monday, August 25. The continuous rainfall over these regions have brought much-needed relief from the humid weather. However, the rainy weather has also triggered waterlogging and traffic disruptions causing inconvenience to people. Visuals from central locations like ITO in Delhi show roads inundated, with commuters facing delays during the morning rush hour. The rainy spell is likely to continue this week, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast indicates rainfall alert across multiple states.
The monsoon trough passes through Bikaner, Jaipur, Gwalior, northeast Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood, Daltonganj, Bankura, Digha and south eastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal. Moreover, the existing Western Disturbance over northwest and upper cyclonic circulation over Madhya Pradesh is set to influence the weather conditions in these areas.
IMD Weather Update: Rainfall Alert For These States
Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been predicted for Gujarat, Odisha, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar and Chhattisgarh today.
Heavy rainfall is likely to lash coastal Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Kashmir, Jharkhand, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Uttar Pradesh.
The IMD has forecast thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40kmph) over Bihar, Gujarat, Karnataka, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Telangana and West Bengal and Sikkim. Assam, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and West Uttar Pradesh are expected to experience thunderstorm with lightning.
IMD Issues Multiple Alerts
An orange alert for rainfall has been issued for parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha and Jammu; while a yellow alert is in place for Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Jharkhand, Assam, Maharashtra and other states.
Weather Forecast For South Peninsular India
Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall today. Heavy rainfall has been predicted over Kerala and Mahe during August 26 to 29.
IMD Weather Update: Forecast For Delhi
The IMD has forecast generally cloudy sky with a spell of very light to light rain/thundershowers at a few places. The maximum temperature is expected to remain in the range of 32-33°C.

While the weather remains pleasant, residents are advised to stay updated with local advisories and take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and heavy rain. They should avoid sheltering under trees, remain indoors during lightning, and stay alert for waterlogging in low-lying areas.
