After touching the heights of space, Shubhanshu has now returned and will soon be reaching his hometown, Lucknow, today. Celebrating his remarkable feat of success, a grand welcome has been organised for the astronaut. Shubhanshu has already arrived at the Lucknow Airport, where he was personally welcomed by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak. From Terminal 3 of the airport to the city’s main intersection, BJP workers and local people showered him with flowers. As the celebratory procession moved through the lanes of Lucknow, huge crowds gathered on both sides to catch a glimpse.
At 12 noon, Shubhanshu will interact with select media personnel, and at 3 PM, he is scheduled to meet Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his official residence. Following this, Shubhanshu will be honoured with a state-level civilian award at Lok Bhavan.

Shubhanshu’s Mission
Shuibhanshu was the mission pilot for Axiom Mission 4, a privately organised mission to the International Space Station (ISS). Shukla is the first ISRO astronaut to visit the ISS and the second Indian to travel to space, following Rakesh Sharma’s mission in 1984. As of 2025, Shukla holds the rank of group captain with the IAF. He is a qualified test pilot with over 2,000 hours of flying experience on a wide variety of aircraft, including the Antonov An-32, BAE Hawk, Dornier 228, MiG-21, MiG-29, SEPECAT Jaguar, and Sukhoi Su-30MKI.
