Rajasthan Shocker: Lecturer, Daughter Die in Self-Immolation; Suicide Note Alleges Dowry Harassment and Assault
Residents in Patna staged a protest alleging lack of police action in connection with the death of two children whose bodies were found in a car on Indrapuri Road on August 15. The protesters also turned violent and vandalised several vehicles, setting them on fire. Police had to use tear gas and shelling to disperse the mob. During the protest, four people were also taken into custody by the police.
Police said more than a dozen police personnel were injured, and an SUV and two bikes were torched. Inspector General Jitendra Rana said a case will be registered and strict action will be taken against the suspects.
Notably, on August 15, two siblings aged 5 and 7 were found dead in a car. No superficial injuries were found on their bodies, but the family alleged that it was a murder. Police said they are investigating the case, but family members who are unsatisfied with the probe staged the protest, which later turned violent.
“Personnel have sustained injuries due to stone pelting and glass shards. They have been sent to the hospital for treatment. A few people have been detained and they are being questioned. Further action will be taken with the help of footage… The doctor’s report is before everyone. Murder has not been confirmed in the report. The doctor has recommended further examinations. Unless everything is confirmed, nobody can be detained…” said Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma, as quoted by Jagran.com.
