At least 19 workers of National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Ltd. (NHPCL) were trapped inside a power house after a landslide blocked normal and emergency tunnels of Dhauliganga Power Project in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh, PTI reported.
The authorities said machines have been deployed to remove the debris. Dharchula Deputy DM Jitendra Verma said the employees will be able to come out once the road is cleared.
The deputy DM said that the way leading to tunnels was blocked due to landslide caused by heavy rains in the region.
Verma said JCB Machines of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) have been pressed into action for clearing the debris. He said all workers will come out after the power house is opened.
