Heavy Rain, Hail Forecast for 15 UP Districts Today And Tomorrow; Schools Closed — Check This Before You Step Out! News24 –
Heavy rain and hail have been forecast for Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. In Uttarakhand, a red alert has been issued for Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, and Haridwar on Monday, with the Met department forecasting extremely heavy rain in some areas and heavy to very heavy showers in others.
Uttarakhand
For September 2, an orange alert has been issued for very heavy to heavy rain in Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, and Bageshwar districts. Several parts of the state are expected to see heavy showers on Monday. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rain in 15 districts and warnings for 29 other districts. Thunderstorms and lightning are also likely in many areas.
Schools have been closed in many districts, including Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri and Champawat. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, in a meeting with senior officials, said that the appropriate steps should be taken to ensure the safety of common people, as the forecast says a high alert for certain districts of Uttarakhand. Dhami asked the State Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman to monitor the situation and do the necessary action with the administrative departments.
Two people, including a woman, lost their lives in Tehri district on Sunday due to heavy rain. Police said the incident took place in the Narendranagar area on the Rishikesh-Gangotri National Highway, where stones fell on them while they were travelling on a two-wheeler.
Uttar Pradesh
In Uttar Pradesh, rain forecast has been high for Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Bhadohi, Bahraich, Sitapur, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Unnao, Lucknow, Barabanki, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Hathras, Kasganj, Etah, Mainpuri and surrounding areas.
According to IMD, Uttar Pradesh will receive more than normal rainfall in September. The capital Lucknow received 52 per cent more rainfall of 307.8 mm in August 2025. In June, Lucknow has received a total of 542.7 mm of rain, which is five per cent more than its long-term average of 519.3 mm. During September too, there is a possibility of normal or above normal rainfall in the central areas of the state, including the capital.
