Schools Closed In Jammu: In view of the weather alerts and heavy rainfall causing landslides in hilly areas of Jammu and Kashmir, all government and private schools in Jammu division will remain closed on Wednesday, September 3. While the schools will remain shut, the Directorate Of School Education, Jammu has ordered to conduct online classes wherever possible. Notably, schools in the Jammu division have remained closed for the past two days.
The order issued by Dr. Naseem Javaid Chowdhary, Director School Education, Jammu stated, “In view of the weather advisory regarding the possibility of heavy rainfall, landslides, flash floods, cloudbursts, etc., which may aggravate the current situation, such as severe waterlogging, flooding in low-lying areas, damaged roads, and damaged school buildings, thereby resulting in disruption of the safe functioning of schools, and in order to ensure the safety of students and staff, it is hereby ordered that all Government and Private schools across Jammu Division shall remain closed on 03-09-2025.”
“Further, it is directed that online classes be conducted wherever possible to ensure continuity of education,” the statement added.

Amit Shah Visits Flood-Hit Areas In Jammu
Jammu and Kashmir has been reeling under intense weather, with widespread destruction caused due to heavy rains and rain-induced landslides. J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday accompanied Union Home Minister Amit Shah to survey the rain and flood-affected areas of Jammu. Shah took stock of the damages caused by the natural calamity and met the flood-affected people in Mangu Chak village.
Shah also held a review meeting on the flood situation in the Union Territory at the Raj Bhavan, which was attended by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, LG Manoj Sinha, Leader of the Opposition Sunil Sharma and others.
On August 26, a devastating landslide near the Vaishno Devi temple in Katra of Reasi district, claimed over 30 lives and injured 20 others. The disaster struck around 3 pm, caused by heavy rain that triggered landslide near the Inderprastha Bhojnalaya at Adhkuwari, about halfway along the 12-kilometre trek from Katra to the shrine.
