The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for the Delhi-NCR region, which includes Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad, due to incessant monsoon rains in North India. Today’s weather forecast in Delhi has warned of heavy rain. The first week of September marked an unusual start for students across several states. Heavy monsoon rains led to the closure of schools, offering an extended break to students from regular academic studies.
It has been raining continuously in Delhi since Monday morning. By 12 noon, the water level of the Yamuna River had reached 204.87 meters at the Old Railway Bridge (ORB), which is very close to the official danger mark of 205.33 meters. Officials have warned that the river level could exceed 206 meters by Tuesday evening, which is considered a critical threshold. In view of this, precautionary measures have been implemented in low-lying areas.
