Shilpa Shetty’s popular Mumbai restaurant, Bastian Bandra, is shutting down this week. The high-end restaurant is co-owned by the actress and restaurateur Ranjit Bindra and is part of the Bastian Hospitality group. It has been a favorite among the city’s food lovers and celebrities for many years. Shilpa as well as her husband Raj Kundra are involved in a controversy, as they have been accused of defrauding over Rs 60 crore in a loan-cum-investment deal between 2015 and 2023.

Mumbai businessman Deepak Kothari filed a fraud case against Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra, claiming they defrauded him of over Rs 60 crore through a loan and investment scheme linked to the now-defunct Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd between 2015 and 2023. Kothari alleged that funds meant for business growth were misused for personal expenses. The couple’s lawyer, Prashant Patil, denied the allegations, calling them baseless and stating that the matter is civil in nature and was already addressed by the NCLT Mumbai on 04/10/2024.
