Man Thrashed By Wife, In-Laws In Dispute Over Samosas News24 –

An FIR on charges of attempt to murder was on Wednesday registered after a man was allegedly beaten up by his wife and her relatives during a village panchayat convened over a trivial dispute about the fact that he did not bring samosas.

The incident happened on August 30 within the Sehrapur North police station area, and came to the police’s knowledge following a written complaint made by the victim’s mother on Wednesday.

According to police, Shivam, a resident of Anandpur, was assaulted by his wife Sangeeta, her parents Usha and Ramladaite, and maternal uncle Ramotar, during a panchayat involving the attendance of a prior village head, Avdhesh Sharma.

“On the basis of the complaint lodged by Vijay Kumari, mother of the victim, an FIR has been registered today against four accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) including attempt to murder,” Circle Officer (CO) Puranpur Prateek Dahiya told PTI.

As per the complaint, police stated the incident started on August 30 when Sangeeta asked her husband to purchase samosas, which he failed to do.

She got mad and called her family the next day, which led to a physical dispute during the panchayat on August 31.

A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media, of the victim and attending family members being attacked. The injured were taken to the hospital, and police are still investigating, officials said.
