Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday laid the foundation stone for the Darrang Medical College and Hospital, the GNM School, and the B.Sc. Nursing College in Assam’s Darrang district. He also laid the foundation for the Guwahati Ring Road Project and the Kuruwa-Narengi Bridge over the Brahmaputra. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who was also present at the event, presented a memento to PM Modi, marking Krishak Swahid Diwas in remembrance of the 1894 massacre in Darrang.

Addressing the people in Assam’s Darrang, PM Modi said, “Yesterday was my first visit to Assam after Operation Sindoor. Operation Sindoor was a huge success with the blessings of Maa Kamakhya. Today, I am having a different holy experience by coming to this land of Maa Kamakhya, and it is also an icing on the cake that Janmashtami is being celebrated in this region today. From the Red Fort, I had said, I remembered Chakradhari Mohan. I remembered Shri Krishna, and I have put forth the idea of a Sudarshan Chakra in the future security policy before the people.”

The Prime Minister further added, “Yahi mera remote control hai. Mera aur koi remote control nahi hai, 140 crore deshwasi mera remote control hai…”

PM also hailed Assam as one of India’s fastest-growing states with a 13% growth rate. “India is currently the fastest-growing country in the world, and Assam stands out as one of its fastest-growing states. Once struggling to keep pace with development, Assam has transformed significantly and is now making remarkable progress, boasting a growth rate of 13%,” he said.

Speaking to the crowd, PM Modi took a jibe at Congress, stating, “When the ‘Namdaar’ beats the ‘Kamdaar’ and if the ‘Kamdaar’ cries out in pain, they torture him even more, saying that you don’t even have the right to cry. How can you cry being a ‘Kamdaar’ in front of the ‘Namdaar’?.The people of the country, music lovers, art lovers, people who are giving their lives for the soul of India, should ask the Congress why they insulted Bhupen Da? Respecting the cultural heritage of Assam, preserving it, and the rapid development of Assam have been the priorities of the double-engine government…”
