PM Modi flags rising infiltration in Assam as major challenge, commits to justice for tribal communities News24 –
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday raised concerns over rising infiltration in Assam, calling it a growing challenge. During his address in Assam’s Golaghat, he accused the previous Congress governments of aiding infiltrators and disturbing the state’s demographic balance for vote-bank politics. He highlighted that the BJP government in Assam is now fighting this challenge of “infiltration” along with people of Assam.
What did PM Modi say?
Praising the Assam government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for Mission Basundhara, he emphasised that BJP is committed to correct what he termed as the “historical injustice” done to the tribal communities
“Amidst these development efforts, a challenge is becoming more and more severe in front of Assam. This challenge is of infiltration. When the Congress government was here, it gave land to the infiltrators and gave protection to illegal occupation. Congress disturbed the balance of Assam’s demography in the greed of vote bank,” PM Modi said.
“Now the BJP government is fighting this challenge along with the people of Assam… I would also like to praise the Assam government for Mission Basundhara. Under this, land leases have been given to lakhs of families… BJP is fully committed to correct the historical injustice done to the tribal society,” he added.
