Is the Indian PM’s Salary Lower than Singapore’s? Here Is the Pay of World Leaders – A Comparison! News24 –


Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi turns 75 on Wednesday, September 17. As the nation celebrates his birthday, many are also curious about personal details such as his wealth, salary, and educational qualifications. A closer look at the salaries of world leaders reveals significant differences between our Prime Minister and others, once again underscoring the image of Narendra Modi as a true ‘jan sevak’. Here’s what you need to know.

The Prime Minister of India is drawing a monthly salary of Rs. 1.66 lakh. In which his basic salary is Rs 50,000, with a sumptuary allowance of Rs 3,000, a daily allowance of Rs. 62,000, and an MP allowance of Rs.45,000. As of May 13, 2024, he had around ₹80,000 lying in savings accounts with SBI. As per the election affidavit, PM Modi kept only ₹52,920 cash at home. Reports also suggest he had investments (including accumulated interest) worth ₹9.12 lakh in his National Savings Certificate (NSC) account. The Gujarat-born politician also has an FD of ₹2.85 crore with SBI.

Salary- Donald Trump, Australian PM Albanese Singaporean PM Lawrence Wong 

Various news reports suggest that the US President Donald Trump draws a salary of $617,000. Australian PM Albanese gets a pay of $622,000. Reports say that Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong is the highest-paid government leader, collecting $SG2.2 million ($2.5 million) last year. 

The leader of Hong Kong, John Lee, earns around HK$5.6 million (about $1.1 million) annually. Similarly, the Swiss president, who serves for one year on a rotational basis, received about 459,688 Swiss francs (around $877,101) in 2024.

Among comparable countries, Modi’s salary is on the lower side. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is expected to earn about C$422,000 ($477,920) this year, while New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon will be paid NZ$510,300 ($474,000). UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is likely to earn more than £174,711 ($365,334) this year. Across Europe, salaries for heads of government vary significantly, with French President Emmanuel Macron paid €182,000 ($324,183) and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen receiving 1,458,000 krone ($348,370).
