ladki bahin yojana: Maharashtra’s populist government program has received a new update. The Devendra Fadnavis-led government has decided to authenticate the Aadhaar cards of all beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana. The authentication will be carried out through e-KYC, and a government resolution (GR) to this effect was issued on Thursday by the Women and Child Development Department.

The new move follows the state information technology department’s submission of a list of around 2.6 million ineligible beneficiaries of the scheme in August. This was why the state women and child development department began its scrutiny. The authentication of the scheme benefits was decided in a Cabinet meeting.

Mukhyamantri Majhi ladki bahin yojana: This populist scheme involves a direct monthly cash transfer of ₹1,500 to underprivileged women. However, there has been much controversy around the scheme’s ineligible beneficiaries. This was because the verification of the beneficiaries was not conducted when the scheme was launched before the assembly elections last year. Instead, the government took self-declarations from all the applicants.
