Who is Vishakha Yadav? IAS Officer who welcomed PM Modi in Arunachal Pradesh News24 –


Photos of a lady in a saree greeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Arunachal Pradesh on Monday, September 22 are making rounds on social media. PM Modi was welcomed by a female civil service officer, Vishakha Yadav, upon his arrival in the Papum Pare district of the state. As the photos went viral, netizens began searching about her on Google.

Yadav also shared pictures of her welcoming the Prime Minister, calling it a privilege. She wrote on X, “Privileged with an opportunity to extend a warm welcome to The Hon’ble Prime Minister in PapumPare district on his visit to the State.”

Who is Vishakha Yadav?

Vishakha Yadav is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, currently serving as theDistrict Collector of PapumPare in Arunachal Pradesh. She belongs to the IAS, AGMUT cadre as mentioned in her X bio.  The AGMUT cadre is a unique IAS and Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre for the Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories. Born in Delhi in 1994, Yadav is the daughter of Rajkumar Yadav, an assistant sub-inspector, while her mother is a homemaker.

Yadav, a resident of Delhi, quit her job to prepare for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination. She secured the sixth rank in the all-India civil services exam, without any coaching. Before joining the civil services, Yadav was an engineer. After completing her engineering degree from Delhi Technological University (DTU), she worked at Cisco in Bengaluru. However, she dreamt of becoming an IAS officer. To follow her dream, she left a high-paying job and began preparing for the civil services exam without coaching. Although she did not clear the exam in her first two attempts, she succeeded on her third attempt. According to reports, Yadav scored 1,046 out of 2,025 marks in the UPSC exam.

As a Kurung Kumey DC earlier, Yadav received the prestigious PM’s Award 2024 for excellence in Public Administration 2024 for her visionary initiative “DigiKaksha”.  She is known for driving a digital revolution in learning and governance in the north-eastern state.
