A stampede-like situation reportedly occurred during the rally of TVK (Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam) chief and actor Vijay in Karur, Tamil Nadu on Saturday. Several attendees fainted amid the chaos and were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities are currently assessing the situation, and more details are awaited.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has reacted to the incident, calling it worrisome. In a post on X, Stalin stated that he had directed Ministers V. Senthilbalaji and Ma. Subramanian, along with the District Collector, is to ensure immediate medical treatment for those who fainted due to the crowd. Speaking upon the devestating incident Pm Modi Said , “The unfortunate incident during a political rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, is deeply saddening. My thoughts are with the families who have lost their loved ones. Wishing strength to them in this difficult time. Praying for a swift recovery to all those injured.”

Soon After that, President Murmu Stated: “Anguished to know about the tragic loss of lives in a stampede-like unfortunate incident in Karur district of Tamil Nadu. I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and pray for the early recovery of those injured.”

The news that over 29 people have died and many others have fainted and are undergoing treatment due to the crowd chaos at the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam party’s campaign meeting in Karur, where its leader Vijay addressed the gathering, is deeply shocking and heartbreaking.
