PM Modi praised the courage of the victims’ families and acknowledged the “unwavering peace efforts” of United States President Donald Trump and the “strong resolve” of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He also reaffirmed India’s support for efforts aimed at securing long-term peace in the region. Notably, the first group of freed hostages was received by Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on October 13, signalling progress in the broader effort to end the conflict.

Their freedom stands as a tribute to the courage of their families, the unwavering peace efforts of President Trump and the strong resolve of Prime Minister Netanyahu. We support President Trump’s sincere efforts to bring peace to the region,” PM Modi wrote on X.

Trump lauds return of hostages under Gaza Peace Plan
US President Donald Trump on Monday delivered remarks to the Knesset in Jerusalem, marking a significant moment in his visit to Israel. Addressing the parliamentarians, Trump spoke about the breakthrough in the Gaza peace plan, highlighting the return of hostages. “After two harrowing years in darkness and captivity, 20 courageous hostages are returning to the glorious embrace of their families. Today, the sun rises on a Holy Land that is finally at peace,” he said drawing applause from the chamber.
Highlighting the breakthrough in Gaza peace deal, Trump stated that a long and difficult war has ended. He asserted that Hamas will be disarmed and there will be no threat to Israel’s security. “This long and difficult war has ended…In an unprecedented achievement, virtually the entire region has endorsed the plan that Gaza will be demilitarised and Hamas will be disarmed, and Israel’s security will not be threatened.,” Trump said.
