Newborn Baby Sold for Rs 1 Lakh, Four Held News24 –

The Maharashtra police booked four persons for allegedly selling a 17-day-old baby for Rs 1 lakh in Maharashtra’s Thane district. 

According to PTI,  a couple sold their son to a man and a woman from Raigad district on October 14, a police officer said.  

A senior police officer said an FIR has been registered against the four persons under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. 

The officer said that the couple already has a four-year-old son and they claimed that they are not able to take care of the newborn. The Raigad couple bought the baby for Rs one lakh and an illegal transactions was highlighted by the  Women and Child Welfare (WCW) department.
