Indian Railways to Run Special Trains for Passengers – Check Full List Here News24 –


The Central Railway has highlighted that it will be initiating the services of 1,702 special trains for Diwali and Chhath Puja. The Western Railway has, so far, notified around 76 pairs of special trains that will commence round trips during the festive season.

Here is a complete list of all the new trains that will be added to the existing schedules in the Central, Western, and Northern regions:

Central Railways
As per tweets, Central Railways will operate around 1,702 special trains for the Diwali and Chhath Puja festivals in an effort to help passengers travel back to their destinations and reunite with their families, as reported by PTI.

Central Railways’ Neela told ANI that the new trains will be operating from stations like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Pune, Kolhapur, and Nagpur.

Over 800 of the new trains will serve routes to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and the northeastern states.

Western Railways
Western Railway has notified that it will schedule around 76 pairs of special trains during this festive season, with more than 2,400 trips.

Northern Railways
Beyond the normally scheduled trains, Northern Railways has also notified that these special trains will be operational from October 19 to 20.

Southern Railways
The special trains will be operational, apart from the normally scheduled ones, starting from October 19 in view of the Deepavali festival.

North Western Railways
As per a statement by Captain Shashi Kiran to ANI, 44 pairs of special trains will be operating from stations with high demand—Mumbai, Pune, Howrah, and nearby regions. He also mentioned that they are currently assessing the need for more special trains.

South Western Railways
The South Western Railways also started special trains between Hyderabad–Belgaum–Hyderabad and between Yesvantpur–Muzaffarpur–Bengaluru Cantt. To ensure that travellers do not panic after witnessing fake or outdated videos on social media, the Railways has asked all users to refrain from sharing videos of crowds or other incidents without proper verification.

The Railways has highlighted 20 such social media handles that have been identified for uploading misleading content. A 24×7 social media team has been established to monitor and counter the spread of such misinformation.
