An acting principal of a government senior secondary school was suspended in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur after he allegedly checked the mobile phone of a female student, officials said.
According to a report published by PTI, the Director of Secondary Education took the decision after an inquiry established the allegations levelled against him.
As per officials, the female student of Shri Mahatma Gandhi Government School had brought her mobile phone to school. Shakeel Ahmed, the acting principal of the school, confiscated her phone, unlocked it, and checked her gallery, WhatsApp, and Instagram accounts, officials said.
The principal gave a written statement in which he admitted to his misconduct. He also questioned the girl about a boy who sits next to her in class.
The girl’s family approached the school and created a ruckus after she reported the incident to her parents. The family then filed a written complaint with the education department, alleging that the principal could have misused information from the phone.
According to the inquiry report, the principal admitted his act, saying that he wanted to check whether the girl had filmed any reels while examinations were going on.
