One Dead, Eight Missing After Boat Capsizes in Bahraich News24 –

One person died and at least eight people were reported missing after a boat capsized in a river in the Bahraich forest area on Wednesday.

According to PTI, the incident took place in the Kaudiyala river near the remote Bharathapur village, located in a densely forested area. According to locals, four people managed to swim to safety.

Bahraich SP R. N. Singh said, “Today in Bharathapur, which is the last village of our Janpad (block) and is located in a forested area, people were going to the Hartiya market in Lakhimpur Kheri district to shop. While on their way, the boat hit a log, lost balance, and overturned. In this tragic incident, there were 22 people on the boat. Out of them, eight people are missing, 13 have been rescued, and one person has died. Efforts are ongoing, and we hope the missing people will be found soon.”
