What’s Causing the Viral Illness Affecting 75% of Delhi-NCR Homes? Survey Reveals Key Insights News24 –

Air quality levels have seen a sharp rise, with the AQI ranging between 400 and 500, driven by firecracker smoke, farm fires in neighbouring states, and local emissions. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), fine particulate matter (PM2.5) levels have reached 350 µg/m³, nearly ten times higher than the safe limit prescribed by the agency.

In its analysis, the survey revealed that:

  • 17% of respondents had four or more unwell individuals in their household.
  • 25% reported two to three sick members.
  • 33% had one sick person.
  • Only 25% of households reported everyone being healthy.

These findings underline the overall impact of changing weather, poor air quality, and viral spread. The situation could worsen if immediate interventions are not taken. The survey’s researchers have urged authorities to address the root causes of air pollution, including vehicular emissions, construction dust, and stubble burning. The survey also seeks to increase the awareness regarding masking, indoor air quality and avoiding lrge gatherings until the viral transmission declines.

The Survey that was conducted by local circles received 15,000 responses from residents of Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad. 62% of teh responders out of teh total of 15,000 were men, while 38 % respondents were women. All teh participants were validated citizens who had been registered with local circles to participate in this event.
