Will Schools Stay Closed on November 3 in States Affected by Cyclone Montha — Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Odisha?
School Holiday, November 3, Tomorrow: According to reports, states such as Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Tamil Nadu – which had earlier shut schools due to heavy rains and Cyclone Montha alert, will now be reopening from Monday, November 3, as there are no heavy rain alerts issued by IMD. According to IMD, the cyclonic intensity has reduced widely. However, they also predict heavy rainfall this week, where certain districts may close the schools.
Certain schools in areas affected by Cyclone Montha are still being used as relief centres and camps. District authorities may declare holidays for these schools that continue to function as relief camps. The announcement regarding this has already been communicated to the parents.
It has to be noted that many boards and government-aided schools are returning to normal operations in the state, localised closures may still apply based on district-level decisions.
As of now, November 3 has not been declared a state-wide holiday in any of the four states, and regular classes will continue from Monday. However, in some remote villages, schools may face challenges in ensuring student safety if heavy rains occur unexpectedly, restoring transport services affected by Cyclone Montha, or repairing infrastructure damaged by rain and storms.
